MK Themed Attractions, the themed production specialists, have helped to increase attendance at the family-owned Danish amusement park Jesperhus Feriepark.
The park opened a newly re-themed Family Entertainment Centre before the summer holidays. MK Themed Attractions produced, delivered and installed famous Danish IP characters in this new space.
These IP characters include the monkeys Zik and Zak. The new FEC is very colourful and allows guests to escape reality and step into the world of their favourite Danish characters. As well as the characters installed by MK Attractions, the FEC was upgraded in several different ways. A new kiosk, toilets, paint, ventilation and playground area were fitted. The upgrade cost 6.5 million Danish Kroners and included a 7×40 meter extension of the area.
The new area received 45,000 visitors during the first six weeks of its opening. Sales of tickets, food and drinks at the FEC was 300% more than expected. Lars Nielsen, Themed Attraction Specialist at MK Themed Attractions, discussed why it has been such a success. “Today guests want to enter a storytelling world that let them escape the stressful everyday life, and this new colourful explosion, where the world of Zik and Zak has come to life, is exactly that – a storytelling themed world.”
An Increase in Themed Experiences
Peter Overgaard, the Managing Director of Jesperhus Feriepark, was the person who wanted to create this themed FEC. He says that in “the last couple of years we have intensified the themed experience at our park which has had a very positive outcome.”
The relationship between MK Themed Attractions and the amusement park continues to grow. Overgaard explains that “MK Themed Attraction helped our new water park Hugos Badeland come to life last year, and this year the world of Zik and Zak, so of course we continue in 2020 by adding a complete themed outdoor playground right in front of our new play centre, and it will again be MK Themed Attractions who will produce the themed fibreglass items.”
Jesperhus Feriepark will add a new water-themed playground area in 2020 as well as a 1:1 red sports car and 1:1 sized caravan. The new fibreglass designs for this area are already in production and include boats, IP characters and a red sports car. They will all enrich the family-friendly feeling at the park. Somatic designed the new FEC and will also design the 2020 themed playground and themed items.
MK Themed Attractions have previously worked on theming around popular Danish IP character Jungledyret Hugo for the park.
