Moody Gardens launches “first of its kind” immersive SpongeBob SubPants Adventure.

News

Texan leisure and educational centre, Moody Gardens, has announced the launch of a new interactive, multi-sensory experience: the SpongeBob SubPants Adventure.

Scheduled to open on May 23rd 2015, guests will be able to explore the world of Bikini Bottom in “Le Plunger” submarine via a 3D digital show with live narration. Described as a “first-of-its-kind, choose-your-own-path, immersive experience”,   4D sensory elements such as wind, bubbles, leg ticklers and scents will bring the aquatic town to life.

Moody Gardens President and CEO John Zendt, says that Nickelodeon serves as the ideal partner when it comes to creating memorable family experiences. “This is real engagement. Visitors will be able to interact with the Nickelodeon characters on a digital stage as they have never been able to do before.”

The destination has a strong ethos of education and is keen to point out that their newest attraction gives people a chance to explore a diverse ecosystem. On their journey, guests will encounter real sea stars, squids and sponges and learn about ocean and sea-life conservation. The submarine then takes them deep into the ocean where they can enjoy real-time conversations with their tour guide, Patrick Star; journey to destinations such as Jellyfish Fields, Rock Bottom, Sandy’s Treedome and Goo Lagoon; and encounter other surprises from SpongeBob SquarePants, Sandy and Plankton.

Zendt reports: “Our objective is always to provide that fun, educational experience that is so important to parents and kids, and the SpongeBob SubPants Adventure attraction will achieve this in a new and exciting way.”
