Paultons Park in Hampshire, England is opening a new junior coaster called the Farmyard Flyer on 1 April 2022 as part of the Tornado Springs expansion, inspired by an American Midwest desert resort town in the 1950s.

The £1.5m Farmyard Flyer, an aeroplane-themed roller coaster for younger visitors, features airfield and farm theming, including as an old crop duster and vintage combine harvester.

“It’s been some time in the making,” Richard Mancey, managing director of Paultons Park, told the Romsey Advertiser. “We knew we were going to put this ride into the park before Covid struck in 2020.”

Mancey added: “It has been delayed, as was the opening of Tornado Springs, however we are delighted to have finally got there and it is a great new attraction to both Tornado Springs and Paultons Park.”

Additional rides at Tornado Springs include the Cyclonator, Windmill Towers, Buffalo Falls, the Trekking Tractors, and Storm Chaser, the only free-spinning roller coaster of its kind in the UK.

“The Farmyard Flyer is our new junior coaster,” added James Mancey, operations director at Paultons Park.

“It’s very much designed for young families to enjoy their first rollercoaster experience. It’s not too thrilling, not too high, it’s just good fun. We would really love as many people as possible to give it a go.”

Opened in 1983, Paultons Park is located within 140 acres of parkland on the edge of the New Forest National Park. It is home to more than 70 rides and attractions, including coasters, thrill rides, and family-friendly offerings.

The £12m Tornado Springs land was the largest new area to open at a UK-based theme park in 2021.
