Rumours are circulating online surrounding ‘leaked’ details of one of the new rides coming to Star Wars Land in Walt Disney World and Disneyland when it opens later this year.

Rumours spreading around the web feature moment-by-moment details of the Star Wars themed dark ride. An article in Attractions Magazine features the disclaimer: “Unless where otherwise noted, the following is rumor and speculation, and should not be regarded as fact unless confirmed by the companies mentioned.”

The attraction was announced at D23’s Destination D: Celebrating Mickey Mouse at Walt Disney World Resort, alongside the land’s other signature attraction: Smuggler’s Run. Bob Chapek, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products revealed the names of the two attractions. Earlier this year, Disney revealed a first look at the new rides in a behind-the-scenes teaser video.

A 30 minute experience?

All in all, according to rumoured details, the experience will be almost 30 minutes in length (including a number of pre-show scenes). In one pre-show scene, guests will board a large ship that will simulate a take-off into space.

After landing in the First Order Star Destroyer hangar, guests will be moved to smaller secondary pre-show rooms. From here, they are loaded into one-of-two different trackless First Order transport vehicles. A droid will hack the vehicles to allow guests to begin their escape. The guests will then come face-to-face with an animatronic Kylo Ren, who ignites his saber. They then enter the AT-AT room – with massive AT-AT walkers shooting lasers.

In the gun room, guests will feel the power of huge guns shooting at Resistance fighter ships that have come to rescue them. Later, Kylo Ren will swing his lightsaber towards the vehicles, causing visible burn and gash marks on the walls.

The two vehicles will find an escape pod, but not before one last encounter with Kylo Ren who uses the force to hold up the room, before a wall collapses. In the escape pod, there is rumoured to be a Tower of Terror-style drop.

While these details sound exciting – it is worth remembering that so far it is all rumour and speculation.

The opening day of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will attract huge crowds at Disneyland next summer – and possibly queues of up to ten hours.
