Shanghai Disney Resort, set to open at the end of 2015, has announced that the first of its six themed lands will be based around Pirates of the Caribbean.
The themed area will be called Treasure Cove and will include a brand new boat ride attraction, Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle of the Sunken Treasure. The high tech ride will feature scenes and characters derived from the Pirates of the Caribbean blockbuster movies as guests will accompany Captain Jack Sparrow on an adventure to discover Davy Jones' treasure.

With a combination of new cutting-edge technology and innovation, Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle of the Sunken Treasure will take our Guests at Shanghai Disney Resort on a first-of-its-kind pirate adventure you will never experience anywhere else in the world."
Commenting on the development of the ride, Fan Xiping, Chairman of Disney's Chinese joint venture partner in Shanghai Disney Resort, Shanghai Shendi Group, said, "We are excited to see the Disney Imagineering team continue to bring the most advanced technologies and construction techniques to China, working collaboratively with local talents, in building this modern and innovative park.”
