Horror fans will experience a candy trail nightmare

Cult classic Halloween movie Trick ‘r Treat is coming to Six Flags‘ Fright Fest event this year, and its director has shared a sneak peek at the new haunted house.

Last weekend at the Midsummer Scream horror convention, Michael Dougherty (Godzilla vs. Kong, KrampusX-Men: Apocalypse) unveiled the upcoming experience.

The Trick ’r Treat haunted house will be available at Six Flags Great Adventure, Six Flags Magic Mountain and Six Flags Over Texas from 7 September until 3 November.

Last month, Six Flags announced an impressive lineup of eerie IP for Fright Fest, including Stranger Things, SawArmy of the DeadThe ConjuringAnnabelle and The Nun.

At the Trick ‘r Treat-themed haunt, guests will enjoy a candy trail nightmare on a “jack-o’-lantern-lit path of supernatural encounters”, said a press release.

Holding a blood-stained candy bag, guests will need to learn the rules of Halloween before “entering a world where tricks dominate treats”, it added.

Visitors will find 11 candy-scented paths, meeting Principal Steven Wilkins, evading the spirits of the school bus massacre, and facing werewolves under a full moon.

“I love Halloween. The idea of doing a maze with [Six Flags] was something I couldn’t pass up that opportunity,” said Dougherty.

“There are several graphic novels and comic books that expand the lore of this film with a lot of cool environments. I told them [to] grab characters and scenarios and environments from those other stories, and they did, and they’re turning out wonderfully.”

RWS Global, a leading producer of live experiences, is working exclusively with Six Flags and its studio partners on the Fright Fest experiences.

“When we first met, we discussed the linear storyline of Trick ‘r Treat and Michael was so awesome,” said RWS Global’s Allison Fox.

“He said let’s go all the way back to the graphic novel, let’s show you some things that you haven’t seen before. So in this experience, you’re going to get an opportunity to explore environments that you’ve never seen before.”
