Slinky Dog Dash Ride vehicle debuted at Disney

News
slinky dog for Slinky Dog Dash ride arrives at hollywood studios

On National Slinky Day, Walt Disney World Resort have given the first look at the new ride vehicle for their upcoming Slinky Dog Dash ride.

The ride will be a family roller coaster in Hollywood Studios in the upcoming Toy Story Land area.

The new land will be 11 acres and is opening next summer. Guests will be shrunk down to the size of a toy in the immersive world. It also forms part of a multi-year transformation plan for Hollywood Studios.

The Slinky Dog Dash will send riders in Slinky Dog themed vehicles around a roller coaster course “that Andy has created to stretch Slinky and his coils to the max.”

Bob Vignec, Staff Project Engineer at Toy Story Land, said: “the roller coaster is based on the Slinky Dog character from the Toy Story series. We’ve tried to put the slinkiness into the track – one of the unique characteristics of this design is that the vehicle and the track are melded together to act for both a fun effect for the people on it and for a kinetic effect for the people who are watching it.”

Another new attraction announced for the land is Alien Swirling Saucers. It is based on a Pizza Planet play set from the film. One of the park’s most popular rides, Toy Story Mania, will also be integrated into the land.

Toy Story Mania is a 4D attraction that was opened in 2008. Guests play carnival midway games with the characters from Toy Story.

The Toy Story Franchise is the 5th best selling animated franchise of all time. A fourth film is also planned for release in June 2019.

In 2019, Hollywood Studios will launch Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The brand new expansion will allow guests to live their own Star Wars stories.
