Shanghai Disney Resort scoops China Best Employer award

Shanghai Disney Resort has been awarded the title of 2017 China Best Employer by top international human resources firm, AON Hewitt.

The accolade comes just one year after the resort first opened to the public. Since June last year, it has attracted over 13 million visitors. The job of immersing those guests in the Disney experience has fallen to 10,000 employees from Shanghai and across China, covering in excess of 500 different professional roles.

This latest honour recognises the resort’s success in quickly establishing that team of talented, passionate, and committed staff members – known at Disney as ‘Cast Members’.

It also highlights Shanghai Disney Resort’s commitment to becoming an employer of choice in China.

“Our Cast Members are passionate about our guests and we are passionate about our Cast Members,” confirms Philippe Gas, General Manager of Shanghai Disney Resort.

Shanghai Disney Resort led the field

“Their commitment inspires all of our leaders at Shanghai Disney Resort to ensure the skills and creativity of our Cast Members are nurtured, creating an exciting and fulfilling career journey they will always cherish.”

Since its inception 17 years ago, the Aon Best Employers Program has evolved into one of the most credible and thorough surveys of its kind in Asia. In this year’s 10th study of the Chinese market, Shanghai Disney Resort led the field in terms of its commitment and innovation in the area of human resources.

The resort puts its success down to decades of industry experience and extensive local market research. Another key factor has been listening to the views of younger Cast Members. This feedback has enabled the resort to create a range of initiatives to help maximise potential and instill a sense of belonging.

“We have said from day one, here at Shanghai Disney Resort, that our goal is not only to provide an unforgettable experience for our guests but to be an employer of choice, recruiting and training diverse talent from across mainland China to deliver Disney’s legendary guest service,” adds Gas.
