TDI Production Solutions, a provider of people movers to the rail and leisure industries, has detailed how accessibility is core to product design and improving the visitor experience.
The firm works with parks and resorts around the world to deliver transport and attraction solutions that can be appreciated by the entire family.
Prospective investments begin with a feasibility study to understand what the project goals are. Once the firm understands guests’ needs, it supports clients with route mapping, terrain analysis, maintenance, and ongoing support.
The company, which has been advising parks for over three decades, says that sustainability and inclusivity are fundamental to the process, and uses its philosophy to nudge the wider industry towards renewable and sustainable transport choices.
TDI Production Solutions include accessibility at the core of product design and are able to create extra space to accommodate more disabled bays, lower curb heights, and wider carriages – some of the measures that can be implemented in its existing design range.
Clients for the manufacturer within the leisure sector include a Delga Electric power car for the City of Albuquerque Biopark and a Tagus Power Car for Toronto Zoo.
Meeting requirements
Vectus, an Automated People Mover (APM) meets modern safety and operational standards, reinforced by the addition of a CCTV security system reporting live detail back to the control room.
The system usually seats up to eight adults, making it an ideal rail vehicle for family parties, however, seating arrangements can be customised to facilitate additional disabled spaces.
The vehicle itself complies with PRM TSI accessibility requirements and is also fitted with climate control and a passenger information system.
The Lync VLR offers operators a modular transport solution, delivering great flexibility in car design. The vehicle comes in a range of lengths, widths, and interior seating arrangements to suit the local operating environment and capacity requirements of venues.
“It has been interesting to see to progress that is being made with the introduction of new technologies that help support the greener sustainable approach that all business sectors need to now engage with” says Transport Design International’s Paul Salkeld.
“This past year, we have been launching several new vehicles including Revolution Very Light Rail. It encapsulates a lot of the innovative solutions TDI has been developing for rail vehicle construction and cleaner propulsion systems.”
Accessibility has also been recently highlighted by theme park operator Six Flags, which is implementing measures to further assist guests with physical disabilities and autism.
