On Episode 02 of Theme Park Academy, Adam Sandy and Mark Lofthouse are joined by Dominic Wray, the managing director of Blackgang Chine, to delve into the world of nostalgia.
Like Sandy and Lotfhouse, Wray has an eclectic skill set and extensive experience in the themed attraction business. Before joining as park manager at Blackgang Chine on the Isle of Wight in 2015, he was the managing director at Terror Island, an award-winning scare attraction.
Now, he manages Blackgang Chine, which opened in 1843, making it the UK’s oldest amusement park. With a rich history and talk of smugglers, dinosaurs and even ghosts, nostalgia forms a key part of the 40-acre park’s continued appeal.
Join us to explore the significance of preserving history for contemporary audiences and the unique challenges of being the custodian of two centuries of legacy.
