Tokyo Disney Resort has announced its programme of special summer events and merchandising at Tokyo Disneyland® Park, Tokyo DisneySea® Park and the Disney Hotels.
To celebrate Tokyo DisneySea’s 15th anniversary, a brand new musical show “Out of Shadowland” will premiere in Lost River Delta.
The story is centred on a young woman called Mei who gets separated from her group on a jungle safari tour and is forced to spend the night alone and unprotected in the scary wilderness. To take her mind off her fears, Mei plays with shadow puppets in her tent and is magically drawn into the shadow world she creates.
Further events at the resort include “Disney Summer Festival” featuring Latin music and themed on a brightly-coloured tropical fruit harvest. The event will feature “Minnie’s Tropical Splash” with Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck and Clarice in brand new costumes with special guests, Jose Carioca and Panchito.
The resort will be launching 40 different product lines on July 8th, including “Minnie’s Tropical Splash” t-shirts, sweatpants, sunglasses and more. The fruit theming is further supported with items such as a watermelon-shaped cushion featuring Chip ’n Dale and a towel in a banana-shaped pocket.
From July 9th, for a limited time only, “artwork” created by Gelatoni (a friend of Duffy the Disney Bear) will adorn the Palazzo Canals area and Mediterranean Harbour. Visitors will be able to buy a selection of merchandise depicting Gelatoni having fun at Palazzo Canals. A new range of Duffy and ShellieMay merchandise is also being launched, including tote bags and tissue box covers.
The Tokyo Disneyland special event, “Disney Natsu Matsuri” brings a touch of Disney magic to this traditional Japanese summer festival. This year, “Sairyo Kabu, ” presented in front of Cinderella Castle, will feature all the Disney friends performing together. They will be divided into four groups, each with its own special theme: “Sai” (color), “Ryo” (coolness), “Hana” (flower), and “Yubu” (heroic dance). This event will feature water sprays and new costumes.
Participating Groups: "Sai" – Chip, Dale, Clarice, "Ryo" – Goofy, Max, "Hana" – Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, "Yubu" – Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Pluto.

35 new merchandise items will feature the Disney Friends as they appear in “Sairyo Kabu” including T-shirts, shorts, head towels and fans. Japanese products will also be available such as “tenugui” towels and “kinchaku” pouch sets.
Tokyo DisneySea Hotel and MiraCosta® will be serving tropical menus to reflect the “Disney Summer Festival” including desserts inspired by Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck and Clarice in their “Minnie’s Tropical Splash” costumes.
Both Disney Ambassador® Hotel and Tokyo Disneyland® Hotel will be offering special menus inspired by “Disney Natsu Matsuri.”
The Disney Resort Line and Ikspiari will also offer special programmes this summer.
