Universal Orlando has unveiled Dark Universe, an immersive land dedicated to Universal’s classic monsters at the new Epic Universe theme park.
Opening in 2025 with the rest of Epic Universe, Dark Universe is Universal’s first-ever land themed to monsters like Frankenstein, the Mummy and the Wolf Man.
The journey begins at the electrifying portal to Dark Universe, an eerie town called Darkmoor featuring unique F&B, thrilling rides, and spooky merchandise.
Attractions and experiences in Dark Universe
Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment is billed as Universal Orlando’s most terrifying attraction to date. This state-of-the-art dark ride takes guests into the catacombs of Frankenstein Manor, where Dr Victoria Frankenstein carries out her experiments.
During the intense ride experience through the darkness, guests will attempt to escape the Wolf Man, the Mummy, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, and more monsters.
Curse of the Werewolf is a spinning family coaster inspired by The Wolf Man (1941). Guests board a wagon and venture into the forest to escape werewolves and avoid transforming into beasts themselves.
Darkmoor Monster Makeup Experience is, as the name suggests, a makeover experience set in the old lab of Dr Pretorius (Bride of Frankenstein, 1935).
Visitors will also get the chance to meet Universal’s monsters and more, including Victoria Frankenstein’s servant Ygor, the Invisible Man, and an eccentric monster hunter.

Dining and retail at Dark Universe
Das Stakehaus is a dining hall in Dark Universe run by vampire “familiars” with artwork and artefacts exploring the history of the village’s creatures.
The Burning Blade Tavern is an F&B outlet in an old mill decorated with monster heads and serving burgers, wings, bratwurst and pretzels.
De Lacey’s Cottage is a food stand selling treats like cinnamon bread, ice cream and “twisted taters”.
Pretorius’ Scientific Oddities is a retail venue offering monstrous merchandise.
As well as Dark Universe, Universal Orlando has unveiled Epic’s Super Nintendo World, Isle of Berk and Celestial Park.
