Amusement Parks: Castle Park – a Potted History

Castle Park is an amusement park firmly aimed at all-round family entertainment, located in Riverside in southern California.

The amusement park was opened in 1976 and has strived to maintain its family appeal and quaint charm ever since within its 25 acres of award-winning landscaped grounds. Altogether, the amusement park has 35 rides and attractions, including a Dentzel Carousel which dates back to 1905. Other popular rides at the amusement park include the rollercoaster- Merlin’s Revenge, the Dragon Tower, which is a vertical drop ride, and the log ride.

There are also four 18-hole miniature golf courses in landscaped grounds with fountains at the amusement park and a resident magician keeps people of all ages entertained with his interactive show. The arcade at the amusement park set in an ivy-clad castle offers over 200 state of the art video games.

In addition to its thrill rides and other attractions, the amusement park’s quaint charm and nostalgic feel can be sampled by climbing aboard one of its two antique trains and taking a tour of the park. On route, you’ll see 18th century wagons, mining equipment and other artefacts to remind you of the days of the Gold Rush.

The amusement park is also well known for its Big Top which is a massive marquee which can cater for up to 500 guests as well as there being a smaller annex for up to 50 guests. This well equipped marquee comes with special lighting, audio visual equipment, microphones and PA system and in addition to being able to cater for children’s birthday parties and the like, it can also be hired for just about any other event at the amusement park such as corporate meetings, banquets, weddings, seminars, Bar Mitzvahs and the like as it has a full kitchen and a chef and catering staff that can turn their hand to any kind of menu.

After dark, the dazzling lights give you a whole new perspective of the amusement park and create a wonderful, if entirely different atmosphere, for a whole range of events at the amusement park including celebrations such as Halloween.
