Amusement Parks: PortAventura – a Potted History

PortAventura is a large amusement park located on Spain’s Costa Dorada close to the city of Tarragona and not far from the beach resort of Salou.

At this amusement park, you can explore the Polynesian jungles, travel through Aztec Mexico and unravel the mysteries of Ancient China. In fact, this amusement park has something to suit both old and young alike.

For adrenaline junkies, there are white knuckle rides at the amusement park, of course, with the Hurakon Condor, Dragon Khan and Furious Bacus just three of the most popular thrill seeking rides that shouldn’t be missed.

Younger children can take an adventure on the canoes whilst Sea Odyssey is a submarine ride at the amusement park enabling you to uncover some of the mysteries of the deep.

The rides are just one element of this amusement park. Theatre, dance, music, acrobatics and other spectacular shows from people from all four corners of the globe will give you an insightful glimpse into different cultural celebrations and customs. There’s China Town with its brilliant choreography and acrobatics and Bubble Bou, an ancient Chinese alchemist who can mould simple bubbles into incredible colourful shapes.

The amusement park is proud of its exotic birds and Aves del Paraiso is a show featuring macaws, parrots, cockatoos and cassowaries which are all eager to show off their range of skills and tricks.

Aloha Tahiti will transport you to the Polynesian islands where South Sea dancers offer a traditional dance to the Gods.

The PortAventura amusement park is part of a much larger consortium of businesses which include a range of hotels and conference facilities, the Caribe Aquatic Park and the Beach Club.

At the amusement park itself, there are several themed restaurants offering unbeatable variety and tastes including Mexican and Mediterranean cuisine and tastes of the old American wild west. In fact, the catering at the amusement park enables you to sample cuisine from all five continents in just one day.
