Amusement Rides: Birmingham Zoo Creates Memories With Chance C.P. Huntington

Chance C.P. Huntington #356 opened to the public on May 21, 2008 at the Birmingham Zoo in Birmingham, Ala.

The train, named the Red Diamond Express, was bought and donated by Red Diamond Coffee and Tea. It features four coaches and African-theming. Zoo CEO, Bill Foster said, "When people talk about the zoo, one of their strongest memories is not only the zoo animals but the days they used to come and ride the train, " Foster said. "That train ride is part of what we’re investing in to create new memories."

The Birmingham Zoo has operated a train for more than 50 years and has given close to 2 million rides to Zoo members and visitors according to Katrina Cade, zoo spokesperson.
