Universal Rocks celebrates awards success for Helios & more

Group celebrates winning "Best Rollercoaster - Limited Budget of the Year" award.

Universal Rocks, an expert in planning, building, and developing themed areas that reproduce the beauty of nature, has had several recent projects recognised at the Park World Excellence Awards 2025, held during IAAPA Expo Europe 2025 in Barcelona, Spain.

Helios at Fantasiana earned the Best Rollercoaster – Limited Budget award, developed in partnership with Fantasiana and MACK Rides. The Universal Rocks teams designed and constructed the entire Sonnenbucht-themed area, including façades, sculpting, painting, and patina, creating a Mediterranean-inspired setting that enriches the coaster's storytelling.

A dedication to immersive theming

In addition, the team is also celebrating the success of several clients and partners, including Les Fastes du Nil – Parc Astérix, winner of Best Food or Retail Development (façades, interior & exterior theming, painting); Europa-Park, named Best of the Best and Best Large Park of the Year; and Rulantica, Highly Commended in Best Water Park.

These acknowledgements emphasise Universal Rocks’ dedication to immersive theming, craftsmanship, and the collaborations that enable these projects.

Simon Spitzbart, Fantasiana’s managing director, says: "We wanted to create Sonnenbucht — the Sun Bay Area — with a real Mediterranean feeling, and Universal Rocks helped us bring that dream to life. The result is perfect — guests can truly dive into this atmosphere.

“Universal Rocks are perfectionists — you won’t find a single mistake in what they do. They’re incredibly creative and full of out-of-the-box ideas, which makes working with them a real pleasure.

“We can wholeheartedly recommend Universal Rocks to any park in the world, big or small. They’re not just partners, they’re friends.”

A dedicated team

Helder Lopes, Universal Rocks CEO, adds: "These awards are a wonderful recognition of the artistry and dedication of our teams, who bring imagination to life every day. We’re proud to share these achievements with our clients and partners, whose trust and collaboration continue to inspire us.”

Universal Rocks has also created playlists on Spotify and YouTube Music, inviting professionals and fans to immerse themselves in the soundtracks of attractions they have contributed to.

Earlier this year, Universal Rocks shared details of its project to design and execute all the new façades for the hotel expansion at French theme park Nigloland. In June 2025, the park completed Hôtel Cabaïana, alongside the fully refurbished Hotel des Pirates and the transformation of their shared restaurant into Erizo.
