A 7,800sqm water park is under consideration to replace a parking lot close to Circus Circus Hotel and Casino in Reno, Nevada.
Eldorado Resorts, the operator of Circus Circus, applied for a special use permit to build a water park northwest of the hotel and casino. The water park is still at a speculative stage as the developer solicits feedback from the city of Reno’s planning department.
“We are currently conducting a feasibility study of a water park for our Reno Tri-Properties to determine the future potential of such a project,” Anthony Carano, chief operating officer at Eldorado Resorts, told the Reno Gazette Journal.
The proposed water park would include an indoor and outdoor pool as well as a range of water slides. The application describes it as an all-ages venue with outdoor seating, shallow pools, an adult-only bar and entertainment.
The planning application states: “This application is requesting a Special Use Permit for development of an indoor-outdoor pool and water slide park. The water park will be physically connected to the Circus Circus hotel-casino by a pedestrian skyway that crosses Sixth Street. The development will serve as a new gateway into downtown Reno and showcase an amenity that is unique to an urban environment.”
There is currently no timeline for the water park development.
