Great Wolf considering second Canadian resort

News
Great Wold Resorts Lodge South Surrey

Great Wolf Resorts (GWR) is considering building a waterpark lodge resort in South Surrey, British Colombia (Canada).

‘Our company sees a strong potential for a resort in British Columbia,” says Keith Simmonds, vice-president for Great Wolf Lodge Niagara Falls. While confirming that Great Wolf has been looking at potential locations for a while, Simmonds adds that “we have nothing secured or finalised at this point of time.”

South Surrey mayor Linda Hepner was apparently introduced to GWR by the Jim Pattison Development Group, which holds exclusive franchise rights to the Great Wolf brand in Canada. Currently, the Niagara Falls facility is the only Great Wolf Lodge in the country. The company has 15 lodges in the USA. In April it opened new corporate headquarters in Chicago.

Hepner has suggested a $150-million, 400-room hotel and waterpark would have “transformative potential” for the South Surrey community. She has apparently made delivering such a project a top priority. Surrey communications manager Oliver Lum says the city is not prepared to release any further details or a specific location.
