Surf Park Central, an organisation which works to accelerate the successful growth of surf parks, has announced details of the 10th Annual Surf Park Summit.

This is the leading event for for surf park developers, operators, and industry professionals, and is taking place 18-20 September at Scripps Seaside Forum in La Jolla, California

For over a decade, Surf Park Central and its annual Summit event have been the unifying force behind industry growth, supporting innovation, cooperation, and the acceleration of surf park projects throughout the world. As the only event focused solely on the surf park sector, it provides delegates with unrivalled opportunities to network with global experts, acquire industry insights, and learn about the newest trends, technologies, and innovations.

The Surf Park Summit is an excellent location for meeting industry pioneers and exploring partnership opportunities. Nine out of the ten attendees report that they built valuable relationships at the Summit, and seven out of ten attendees report that connections made at the event led to new deals.

Over 250 delegates from companies and surf park projects around the world are expected to attend this year’s Summit.

The event typically attracts attendees including real estate developers and investors, park owners and operators, and wave technology manufacturers and suppliers.

Events programme

The event is taking place 18-20 September, with a full programme of events.

On Monday 18 September, the Summit will launch with two VIP events. An executive workshop is taking place from 2 pm – 4 pm and will be hosted by Dr Jess Ponting, co-founder of Surf Park Central. This interactive session encourages collaboration and success in new surf park initiatives. The workshop is followed by a VIP reception from 6 pm – 8 pm, at acclaimed surf and ocean photographer Aaron Chang’s art gallery.

The main summit takes place on Tuesday 19 and Wednesday 20 September. Events include:

  • Keynote from Jeff Pensiero, founder of Baldface Lodge, and recognised leader in the adventure and hospitality sector.
  • The 2023 Consumer Trends Report will be presented by Ponting in partnership with Surfline.
  • Panel sessions will range from finance and investment to iconic surf destination design and future innovations in the sector.
  • Spotlight presentations from Surfline, Endless Surf, Wavegarden, Water Technology Inc (WTI), Surf Lakes, UrbnSurf, Surf Park Management, and Beach Street Development, who will share new announcements and updates.
  • Innovation and technology lightning rounds will reveal new developments from leading manufacturers.
  • The Developers Track is new for 2023, with over 15 breakout sessions created for surf park owners and operators and those looking to move into this space in the future. The sessions will share expert insights and new strategic approaches.
  • The Annual Surf Park Awards will honour excellence in the surf park business, with awards for organisations and individuals. The 2023 awards will recognise sustainability, innovation, democratising access, and leadership, all of which contribute to the sector’s success and expansion.
