Convious, a leading eCommerce platform for the leisure industry, has announced a new appointment to lead its team in the British Isles.
Andy Povey has joined experience economy software developer Convious as its new managing director for the United Kingdom and Ireland.
He joins the UK team working alongside business director Adam Thompson to drive company growth and help deliver the benefits of integrated end-to-end sales and marketing platforms to attractions such as amusement parks, zoos, aquariums and wellness destinations.
Experienced leader
Povey has over two decades of experience in the leisure industry, having previously worked for operators including Merlin Entertainments and suppliers including Gateway Ticketing Systems.
His specialisms lie in developing and implementing business intelligence and customer tracking strategies, with a trusted track record of successfully growing companies into new markets and territories.
Povey says: “The COVID pandemic has accelerated digitisation by three to four years, making eCommerce a ‘must-have’, rather than a ‘nice-to-have’. The result of this has been a lot of rushed decisions from operators who were forced to react and implement systems that do not connect with their wider ecosystems and workflows.
“I am looking forward to working with destinations to help them consolidate and grow, leaving legacy systems in the past and embracing a new way of operating that is AI-driven to manage all internal operations from a single place.”
Convious founder and CEO Camiel Kraan adds: “We are delighted to be welcoming Andy to our team. His vast experience and expertise will be invaluable as we move into the next phase of our journey, growing our business in the UK and beyond.
“This is an exciting time of transition for the experience economy to modern, cloud-based platforms and Andy will be crucial in supporting our clients on this next phase of digital transformation.”
Last month, Convious announced that it raised $12M in Series A funding with venture capital firm Begin Capital. Over the course of this year, the company has major plans to expand with new international offices in the US, France and Germany. Its sales and product development teams are also set to nearly double from 65 to 125 colleagues.
