Moment Factory, the multimedia entertainment studio specialising in the conception and production of immersive environments, has helped to transform the Banff Gondola at Sulphur Mountain with a new nighttime spectacular called Nightrise. The experience was created in collaboration with Pursuit and with the participation of the Stoney Nakoda Nation.

The new experience, which opened on 2 December 2021 and runs until 14 April 2022, provides both tourists and locals with a fresh perspective on the iconic mountain range and can be enjoyed alongside the pre-existing Rockies-inspired food and drink at the mountain’s restaurants.
Nightrise will encourage visitors to come and enjoy the beauty of the Banff Gondola during the less busy winter months.
Spectacular show transforms Sulphur Mountain
Sulphur Mountain is brought to life after sundown with a range of vivid multimedia effects, video projections, and original soundscapes, which take inspiration from nature, echoing phenomena such as cosmic rays or alpenglow, and Stoney Nakoda culture and history.
The Moment Factory team worked closely with members of the Stoney Nakoda Nation to create an experience that celebrates the Rockies. Members of the community shared their unique knowledge of the land to help the team develop the storytelling, soundscape and music of the experience.
At the start of the Nightrise experience, visitors step onboard the Banff Gondola for a multisensory journey to the peak, where they can then explore multiple levels inside the summit building, as well as the outdoor observation areas.

This nighttime spectacular builds on the success of the company’s Lumina Night Walks series, the goal of which is to enhance the natural wonder of each unique natural environment. Nightrise uses the same story-driven approach of Moment Factory’s popular Lumina Enchanted Night Walks and combines this with the installation-driven approach of its outdoor digital art exhibitions, for example, North Forest Lights and Light Cycles.
Nightrise is another successful collaboration between Moment Factory and leading experience provider Pursuit. Previously, the company has also designed and created pre-ride experiences for Pursuit’s attractions, such as FlyOver Canada, FlyOver Iceland, and the newly opened FlyOver Vegas.
Last year the company was invited by Meow Wolf to transform Perplexiplex, a live performance venue, into a unique immersive experience.
