La Ronde Promises Fun Seekers an Even More Diversified Entertainment Experience

News

From the all-new Catapulte to sailboarding, the CyberZone, an extreme aquatic show, go-karting, motocross and much more, La Ronde will provide its visitors with even more diversified entertainment during its 2008 season, which kicked off Saturday, May 17.

La Ronde is committed to consolidating its positioning as an entertainment giant that, together with its offer of more than 40 rides and attractions, serves as an exciting multi-activity centre – a place people can visit many times during the season and where they can enjoy a different experience each time just minutes from downtown Montreal.

La Ronde announces the following new attractions for its 2008 season:

La Catapulte: On this ride the passengers will be flying, reaching speeds of 100-130 kph! Brave souls will be launched from an arch that is almost 53 m (173 ft) high – 8 m (26 ft) higher than La Grande Roue. Catapulted human projectiles will balance high above La Ronde some 10 times before descending to earth. Because of the work that this imposing facility requires, La Catapulte will open to the public on June 21 (date to be confirmed). An overview of La Catapulte, also known as SkyCoaster, is available on YouTube, at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w95VaJoUKUg (or by typing the keyword "SkyCoaster" on YouTube).

XtremO: This all-new aquatic show that’s as extreme as its name suggests will electrify its audiences at Lac des Dauphins! Accompanied by a stirring soundtrack, eight artists will perform multiple dives and aerial feats. They’ll even move onto walls like Spiderman! Advance presentations are scheduled for June 14 and 15. The show will then be performed four times daily starting June 21, the day it premieres for the media.

La CyberZone: A unique association between interactive and video game giants Ubisoft and Nintendo. Nintendo’s latest offerings will be accessible via 18 Wii and 26 Nintendo DS. Ubisoft will also take advantage of this new showcase to present its games for Nintendo platforms, specifically its Games for Everyone line. In addition, other Ubisoft animated products will be programmed during the summer. Also in La CyberZone, GameBuzz will open a one-of-a-kind boutique serving as a source of special information for players.

Le Centre nautique de la marina de La Ronde: A well known, experienced team renowned for its activities at Lac Tremblant and led by former world champion Pierre Plouffee brings to La Ronde’s marina water skiing and sailboarding (private and group lessons) plus floating toys for the whole family to enjoy. Fun seekers can now enjoy guided seadoo outings, boat rides and pontoon boat excursions led by a guide, if you please! Visitors can even reserve a guided pike-and-bass fishing excursion on the St. Lawrence River! La Ronde will also bring back aquatic activities – electric boat rides, pedal boats and kayaks – on Lac des Dauphins on days when there no fireworks display is scheduled.

Le Circuit La Ronde: Go-kart fans, this summer La Ronde offers you a track on which you can test your skills like never before. Le Circuit La Ronde is located at the foot of Le Vampire.

Les samedis de l’humour Crest (Crest Comedy Saturdays): Chick’n Swell, Réal Béland, Stéphane Fallu and "Les coups de cur 2008" (Dominic Paquet, Charlie Pop and Jean-Christian Thibodeau) will all appear during September.

2008 calendar of events: Again this season, La Ronde offers non-stop entertainment, from opening day through to La Nuit Noire, with Coca-Cola Family Day, La Soirée Blanche (a fabulous get-together for teens who want to celebrate the start of summer vacation!), Family school’s out and Ribambelle’s Day, plus the Yamaha Motocross, Chinese Festival, St-Tite Western Festival and Camping and Caravanning weekends in between.

Park president Marc Tremblay stated, "More than ever this year, La Ronde will be able to meet the highly varied needs of its clients, who, of course, want thrilling rides but who also want a wonderful overall entertainment experience." He added, "La Ronde visitors are looking for high excitement and we want to provide them with exactly that right through their visit, both on the rides they go on and throughout the park."

Blue chip entertainment

Of course, with its many renowned rides and attractions, no fewer than 17 of them introduced since 2001, La Ronde remains Eastern Canada’s leading amusement park. Le Goliath (presented by TELUS, the park’s official supplier), one of North America’s highest and fastest roller coasters, will offer riders dizzying sensations for a third season.

Again this year, La Ronde will host L’International des Feux Loto-Québec presented by TELUS, with this year’s event being the 24th edition of the world’s most prestigious international fireworks competition.

Friendly and prompt service providing visitors with a clean and safe environment

Again this year, the theme park is proud to offer its visitors a smoke-free environment. Designated smoking areas will again be provided. The entire La Ronde team is dedicated to providing friendly and prompt service in a clean and safe environment.
