André Stadler is the director of Alpenzoo Innsbruck, a zoo located in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It is home to more than 2,000 animals found in the Alps and is the only zoo in the world dedicated to Alpine animals. Alpenzoo Innsbruck welcomes around 300,000 visitors every year. One nominator said Stadler “lives his work with passion”, adding: “He tries to bring people closer to the importance of animals and nature.”
Last year, Stadler started a podcast called Alpenzoo Late Morning Show. He is a member of the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s small mammals and deer specialist groups, as well as the IUCN Species Information Service (SIS)
