Rocky Mountain Construction heads to AZA Annual Conference

News
RMC Jumping Jumbos ride

Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC), a world-leading roller coaster manufacturer, has announced that it will exhibit at the 2024 AZA Annual Conference. The Association of Zoos and Aquariums event will be held from 14 to 19 September at the BMO Centre in Calgary, Canada.

The RMC team will be on hand to showcase rides ideal for zoo and aquarium venues, such as the Tilt-A-Whirl, Flying Scooters, Flying Rides, and Skyrise. These types of rides are good opportunities for zoos, aquariums, and other alternative venues since they are highly customisable and can easily align with the attraction’s mission. They also offer guests a different learning medium, helping them capture a larger demographic, increase the average length of stay, and boost return visits.

Rides for zoos and aquariums

With its undulating platform and seven vehicles spread over the surface, the Tilt-A-Whirl delivers a unique experience for every person, every time. This ride can be customised with different characters or colour patterns that match the attraction’s theme and mission.

Meanwhile, the popular Flying Scooters ride has an entry-level price point and is family-friendly and inclusive. It is available with custom decor, as well as an optional LED light package. The ride begins to rotate after guests board the flying vehicles and are securely in place with high-visibility seatbelts. Soon, they are soaring high above the ground as they fan out over a larger area.

Each vehicle has a fixed rear wing and a moveable front wing, so the riders control the vehicle’s flight for an interactive experience.

RMC Flying Scooter

Flying Ride is a customisable children’s interactive ride, and each installation boasts unique and immersive features that cater to all ages. From elephants to bees or a completely custom theme, this ride allows zoos and aquariums to provide memories that will last a lifetime.

Skyrise is an observation tower ride that takes guests high up in the air to view their surroundings from a whole new perspective. It is ideal for amusement parks, zoos, and any venue that wants to offer guests a unique and unforgettable experience. This high-capacity customisable ride loads and unloads all patrons simultaneously, ensuring efficiency and safety.  The space can be used as a food/beverage station for ticketed happy hours, live music, storytelling, or a new view of the surrounding area.

Once the Skyrise begins its vertical lift, the passengers rotate slowly for an immersive 360-degree panoramic view. An LED light package is also an option.

These rides are a different learning medium for zoos and aquariums, offering an alternative way to share their mission with bespoke theming and storylines. They are also a good way to boost operations revenue and attract a family demographic.

RMC has provided Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and Wildlife World Zoo with an interactive Flying Scooter with great success. This summer, the company also shared how its services can help attractions extend the life of their rides and increase ROI.

AZA Annual Conference attendees can learn more by meeting the team at booth #548. Meetings with business development colleagues Dave Schloegel and Tevin Hamilton can be booked in advance by email.
