SSA Group team shot

Mental health support is a key priority for family-owned firm

SSA Group, an award-winning provider of visitor amenities, has partnered with Behavioral Essentials in order to put the well-being and mental health of its employees first. The family-run business has always believed that taking care of its team is one of the most important things that it does, and it strives to bring its employee resources to the next level.

Over the last four years, SSA Group has implemented several initiatives and is committed to improving its team members’ well-being, both in the wake of COVID-19 and going forward.

“We believe that employers have a responsibility to ensure their employees feel supported not just in the work they are doing for their company, but how they feel about that work, as well as their well-being outside the office,” says the company.

Employee support is vital

The pandemic highlighted the need for mental health support in the workplace. Since September 2021, nearly 4.4 million people decided to leave their jobs in the US and a key driver for this mass resignation was the need for more mental health support in the workplace. Lyra Health recently found that 84 percent of people think that mental health benefits are an important factor when deciding on a new job, and 59% would choose to stay at their workplace if it provided those benefits.

Thanks to its partnership with Behavioral Essentials, a company that specialises in creating work cultures that support the personal and professional development of employees, SSA offers its employees:

  • Comprehensive health & wellness programming focused on every element of an employee’s well-being from physical, to mental, to financial health.
  • Employee assistance program for FTBE team members with up to three free counselling sessions
  • Individual and team coaching services
  • Triage support for managers, ensuring team members get routed to immediate local resources in lieu of emergency situations
  • Financial wellness resources and access to earned but unpaid wages before payday

Earlier this month, SSA Group announced a partnership with Henry Vilas Zoo in Madison, US, where it will be working to provide and update integrated food, catering and retail services.
