The Toledo Zoo in Ohio is celebrating its 125th anniversary with a three-day conservation symposium in October.
The event will bring together leading conservationists, scientists and educators from across the world, and will showcase the zoo’s continued commitment to wildlife conservation.
“As part of our 125th anniversary, it was important to create an event that reflects the very heart of our mission,” said Jen Brassil, director of PR and communications events at the Toledo Zoo.
“While the Toledo Zoo plays a vital role in local conservation, our dedication also reaches across the globe with projects in Africa, Aruba, Brazil, Nepal, the Pacific Islands and Tasmania.
“This symposium positions the Toledo Zoo as a rare hub for international conservation collaboration, bringing together experts from multiple continents to share strategies for saving species and connecting communities with wildlife.”
The event will offer presentations on local and international conservation initiatives, including endangered species recovery programmes, community engagement projects, and cutting-edge research.

Guests will learn about the zoo‘s contributions to biodiversity preservation and discover how its projects influence local and global ecosystems.
The event is free and open to the public. It runs from 21 October through 23 October, and a livestream will be available for people unable to attend in person.
The Toledo Zoo is home to more than 16,000 animals across over 680 species. It is actively engaged in conservation efforts, participating in more than 80 species survival programmes.
To mark its 125th anniversary this year, the zoo is also hosting a series of special events, exhibits and programmes.
