Inspired by the operating principles of aerial drones, Aqua Drones is the world's first autonomous floating performance system, introducing an entirely new category of technology for the attractions and live entertainment industries.
Developed entirely in-house by CRYSTAL after two years of research and development, Aqua Drones transforms any body of water into a fully programmable performance space. Using centimetre-level RTK GPS positioning, autonomous navigation and proprietary control software, each platform can move independently while remaining perfectly synchronized with music, lighting, fountains, flame effects, pyrotechnics and live performers.

Unlike traditional floating stages or fixed fountain installations, Aqua Drones are not static infrastructure. They are autonomous robotic platforms capable of carrying performers, scenic elements and multimedia effects while navigating precise choreographed paths across the water. This fundamentally changes the way aquatic entertainment is designed: the stage itself becomes dynamic, moving, evolving and interacting with the performance.

The technology is built around a modular architecture that allows multiple platform configurations using the same autonomous navigation system. Today, the Aqua Drones family includes dedicated platforms for robotic fountains, lighting, flame effects, pyrotechnics, live performances and scenic installations. This scalable approach enables creators to combine different functions within a single synchronized production while adapting the technology to projects of any size.

Aqua Drones also introduces a more sustainable approach to aquatic entertainment. Fully electric and requiring no permanent infrastructure, the system significantly reduces the environmental impact of large-scale water productions while offering greater flexibility for temporary events and permanent attractions alike.
The technology was validated through extensive on-water testing before making its world premiere during Dubai's New Year's Eve celebrations beneath the Burj Khalifa. Eight autonomous Aqua Drones operated simultaneously on the world's largest aquatic stage, transporting more than 70 performers and scenic elements throughout a 45-minute production, demonstrating the reliability and scalability of the technology under one of the most demanding live entertainment environments in the world.
More than a new attraction, Aqua Drones is a new creative platform. By bringing the mobility, precision and coordination of aerial drones to the water, it opens unprecedented possibilities for theme parks, destination resorts, cultural events and immersive experiences. Aqua Drones redefines what is possible on water and establishes a new technological standard for the future of live entertainment.
