Brean Theme Park in Somerset, England has gone into liquidation and ceased trading.

The theme park in Brean, Burnham-on-Sea is part of a holiday resort that first opened in the 1940s.

As of 2025, Brean Theme Park housed more than 40 rides and attractions, and opened seasonally from March to October.

It appointed liquidator Hazlewoods last week, meaning the business had to stop trading unless it is required to complete the winding-up process.

The park had been experiencing "significant financial challenges" due to dwindling attendance following the Covid-19 pandemic.

Nicholas Stafford, from liquidator Hazlewoods, said (via the BBC): "The company traded throughout the peak summer season of 2025, however revenue generated over that time was insufficient to enable the company to sustain operations through the park's usual winter closure."

He also said the site had been impacted by a nearby holiday park being used to house Hinkley Point C employees instead of tourists.

A spokesperson for Hinkley Point C said (via ITV News): “We are sorry to hear of the financial difficulties faced by the theme park, we know it has been a challenging time for tourism businesses across the South West."

"Significant financial challenges"

Unity Holidays, which owns the site the theme park is on, said its caravan park is operating as normal.

Also, Brean Play, Brean Splash and Brean Gym will reopen as planned for the 2026 season.

Last March, Oakwood theme park in Pembrokeshire, Wales announced its immediate closure due to "unrelenting economic challenges".

These included increases in costs and changes to national insurance thresholds, the park's owner and operator Aspro Parks said.
