From 13 - 16 October 2026, Communicating the Arts (CTA 2026) will be returning to Canada's capital region for the 26th edition of the conference. Over the course of four days, arts and cultural professionals will join together for keynotes, panels, workshops and networking across some of the region's leading institutions.
Building Trust, Bridging Worlds
The theme of this year's conference is "Building Trust, Bridging Worlds" and will explore the role that arts and cultural institutions play in connecting audiences, fostering empathy and building resilience across communities and generations. In an era of digital, political and environmental disruption, arts and culture play an even more important role in helping societies navigate change and strengthen trust. Key themes that will be explored include:
- Examining institutions' values & mission
- Measuring impact beyond attendance figures
- Harnessing digital technologies
- Crisis management and strategies
Networking
Beyond the main conference programme, attendees will have plenty of opportunities to network with their peers. CTA 2026 will offer structured speed-meeting sessions, networking lunches, and evening receptions, all designed to encourage cross-sector dialogue and collaboration.
Host Institutions
The first half of the conference (13–15 October) will take place at the Canadian Museum of History, an institution dedicated to exploring the events, experiences, and objects that have shaped Canada, while also fostering a broader understanding of world history and cultures.
The second half of the conference (15–16 October) will be held at the Canadian War Museum, Canada’s national museum of military history. Its mission is to promote public understanding of the country’s military past across personal, national, and international perspectives.
