Streaming has made a trip to the theater optional for many fans. Cosm is changing what going to the theater means, giving audiences a new way to experience the films they love, in a room full of fans under a screen no living room or phone can match. At Cosm's venues in Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta and Detroit, 87-foot-diameter, its 12K+ LED domes and fulldome filmmaking place guests inside the story of a classic film as it plays in its original 16:9 format.

The format launched at Cosm on June 6, 2025 with The Matrix in Shared Reality, created with Warner Bros. Pictures, Little Cinema, and MakeMake. Nearly all initial showings sold out within two weeks, and Cosm extended the run twice. Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory in Shared Reality followed in November 2025 and brought the format to a family audience.

Cosm's Shared Reality cinematic experiences
Cosm
In 2026, Cosm and Warner Bros. Pictures brought Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone to Shared Reality, opening the format at the new Atlanta and Detroit venues. In August, New Line Cinema's IT became the format's first horror title, with sound design and dynamic environments built to bring the scare into the room.
Each film plays at the center of Cosm’s LED domes while custom-built screen extensions push its world past the edges of the frame, wrapping around and above the audience. As the story moves, so does the environment. For example, in IT in Shared Reality, the quiet streets of Derry give way to the eerie woods, then to the town's wet sewers, with The Dome's walls dripping, until the audience is fully inside Pennywise's nightmare. The original visuals, sound design, and plot run unchanged, while its emotional reach grows in a way only Shared Reality allows.

Cosm also extends each film into the venue, with the film remaining at the center of the experience. Lighting, sensory touches and interactive installations let fans step into the franchise. Every title has come with a tasting menu and a cocktail menu written from the film's own references, with courses delivered to the seat and timed to scenes. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in Shared Reality guests ordered butterbeer, and guests for Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory in Shared Reality had a dessert menu built around the film's sweets.
After the first four cinematic titles created with Warner Bros. Pictures, Universal Film became Cosm's second major studio partner, beginning a multi-year relationship with Shrek, which will be the first animated title in Shared Reality.
Cosm's cinematic Shared Reality slate now includes The Matrix, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, IT and, soon, Shrek, spanning sci-fi, fantasy, family, horror and animation. Two major studios have signed on since June 2025, giving library titles a second run in a theater.
