Environment & Culture Partners (ECP) is a non-profit organization providing support to those working at the intersection of culture and sustainability. Areas where ECP can help cultural institutions include advising on waste reduction, air and water quality, climate mitigation, biodiversity and habitat preservation and restoration, and climate adaptation.
ECP’s work focuses on three key pillars: research and training, engagement, and representation. These pillars help to support, motivate and mobilise cultural institutions to collaborate with both other sectors and their communities, strengthening both their climate action and resilience.

When it comes to planning a sustainable and resilient future, museums, cultural heritage sites, zoos and aquariums play a crucial part. Cultural institutions like these must work together with cities, counties, tribes and civic organisations to truly integrate sustainability for ensure long lasting, sustainable communities. Environment & Culture Partners believes that everybody benefits when the work of the cultural sector is entwined with others’, and that collaborating and working together is the only way to truly mitigate the climate crisis, improve environmental and human health, and build community resilience.
Current work at ECP includes the Carbon Inventory Project, Caretakers of Wonder, the Carbon Neutral Visiting Initiative (CNVI), the Frankenthaler Climate Initiative, Culture Over Carbon: Understanding the Impact of Museums’ Energy Use, and the American Psychological Association Task Force on Climate Change.
