Drayton Manor : The United Kingdom's Largest Permanent Water Show

To celebrate Drayton Manor's 75th anniversary, CRYSTAL transformed the park's iconic lake into the United Kingdom's largest permanent water show, creating a spectacular new end-of-day experience that combines water, fire, light, projection, music and storytelling.

Designed to become a lasting attraction rather than a one-off event, the installation features two completely different 18-minute productions: Monsters & Magic for Halloween and A Christmas Miracle for the Christmas season. Both shows run on the same permanent infrastructure, allowing the park to completely transform the guest experience throughout the year without additional installations.

The project was conceived, engineered, manufactured and commissioned in just three months, an exceptional achievement for a permanent multimedia attraction of this scale. Every element of the installation was designed, fabricated and assembled in-house by CRYSTAL in France, from the custom-built 80 m² underwater platform to the show-control system synchronising more than 90 water, fire and lighting effects.

The installation includes moving fountains reaching 18 metres, rotating water effects, a 30 x 10 metre water screen, underwater LED lighting, flame effects and a fully synchronised multimedia control system, all integrated into the park's historic lake while maintaining easy maintenance and operational flexibility.

A key innovation of the project was CRYSTAL's use of its proprietary AI-assisted visual production workflow. This enabled the creative team to produce two completely different video experiences in less than eight weeks, dramatically reducing production time while maintaining a high artistic standard. The result is a flexible creative process that allows seasonal content to evolve quickly while remaining financially accessible for operators.

More than a technical achievement, the project redefines the role of a permanent water show within a theme park. Instead of simply presenting fountain choreography, it delivers an emotional, story-driven finale that extends the guest experience until park closing, encourages repeat visitation through seasonal content, and establishes a new benchmark for permanent multimedia attractions in the United Kingdom.
