Elaine Schomburg-LaFleur has over 22 years of experience in the entertainment industry, working across diverse roles and projects.
Her expertise spans project engineering, technical management, project management, and mechanical engineering, as well as the design, inspection, and maintenance of rides, shows, retail, and restaurants for major theme parks in Florida.
This breadth of experience enables her to balance big-picture strategy with the intricacies of design, ensuring successful project execution.
At Walt Disney World Resort, she served as a project manager for the 50th Celebration, overseeing the design, fabrication, and installation of the castle decorations, Main Street projector show, bronze sculptures, and gateway arches. She also managed the new attraction track and themed show elements for Big Thunder Mountain and handled the replacement of key show elements and equipment during a tight two-week window at Pirates of the Caribbean.
Schomburg-LaFleur coordinated the installation of an ADA ramp and themed bench for Prince Charming Carrousel, contributed as a ride engineer for Buzz Lightyear ride component modifications, and managed the design, fabrication, and installation of a coffee kiosk at Tomorrowland Joffrey’s. Additionally, she led modifications to tunnels for stormwater, sanitary, and fire suppression systems.
At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, she managed the Kilimanjaro Safari ride vehicle replacement. She oversaw various modifications during attraction downtimes, including track-switch work, fall protection, and themed-element updates for Expedition Everest, and ride-track switch, animated-figure repair, and vehicle maintenance for Dinosaur.
She also managed track and brake modifications for Primeval Whirl, puppet updates for the Festival of the Lion King, and themed fabrication for the Anandapur Ice Cream Truck, as well as back-of-house animal facility projects.
At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Schomburg-LaFleur managed themed elements for Jedi Training. At Epcot, she handled the projection changeout for Frozen, created maintenance inspection documentation for Soarin’, and managed various bridge, concrete, and sanitary repairs across key facilities.
