From 6 – 9 May, AAM will be hosting its Annual Meeting and MuseumExpo for 2025. This annual event brings together museum professionals from all around the world for several days of learning, collaboration and networking. This year’s event will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center in California.
Museums and Trust
AAM 2025 will focus on the theme of Museums and Trust, recognising the key role museums play in society as institutions held in high regard by the public as stewards of knowledge, culture, science, and history. Integrity, reliability, and credibility are of the utmost importance in fulfilling this role.
In a world where misinformation and disinformation are increasingly prevalent, museums must critically examine their position and acknowledge the power they hold in combating false narratives and polarised perspectives. By doing so, museums can contribute to creating a society that is both more knowledgeable and empathetic.
However, to achieve this, museums must maintain credibility at all levels. This involves embracing collaborative approaches to address biases, resource challenges, and abuses of power.
