From 5–7 March 2025, the Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums will host the Building Museums Symposium in St. Louis, MO. This three-day event will bring together professionals from the world of museums to discuss best practices, share ideas, network, and learn.
Building Museums is a national symposium on the process, promise, and pitfalls of planning and managing museum-building projects. This symposium is designed for architects, museum leaders, planners, project managers, technical experts, and all professionals involved in planning or implementing new construction, renovation, preservation, or expansion projects for museums. Building Museums™ 2025 will actively engage participants through sessions and discussions. The programme will include expert keynote addresses, behind-the-scenes museum tours, receptions, and a workshop.
The symposium is organised around three interconnected topics – vision, implementation, and sustainability (or life beyond opening). Each day’s content will reflect these themes across a wide range of museum sizes and scales, budgets, project scopes, and disciplines, as well as both collecting and non-collecting institutions.
Why attend?
This symposium is tailored for architects, museum directors, planners, project managers, technical specialists, and anyone involved in planning or executing museum projects, including new builds, renovations, or expansions.
