ICEE (International Committee of Exhibition Exchange) will be hosting their flagship conference, Momentum, at the Estonian National Museum in Tartu from 29 September – 02 October 2024.
The theme of the Momentum 2024 conference is ‘Exhibitions and Memory’, examining the ways in which museums operate as a link between the past and the future. Building off of the success of the 2023 conference in Medellin, Colombia, and produced in partnership with the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience and ICOM-Estonia, Momentum: Exhibitions and Memory will host 150 attendees from museums all over the world.
Programme
Each day of Momentum 2024 will be based on a grounding theme related to the overall theme of the conference. These include Memory and the Future of Museums; the Intersection of Memory, Innovation, and Exhibitions, and How do Exhibitions Shape Memory?
Kicking off each day of the conference will be a keynote from leading voices within the sector and beyond, designed to ignite new and interesting discussions that allow attendees to examine issues from different perspectives. The keynotes will then be followed by a series of conference sessions, panel discussions, and workshops.
The conference will also feature the popular Travelling Exhibitions Marketplace, where institutions and producers can share their latest touring exhibitions with the ICEE community. Tartu is this year’s European capital of culture, and each day of the conference will end with the opportunity to explore some of the city’s local museums, giving attendees the chance to learn how these sites are serving their communities in new and exciting ways.
