Habo, a consulting firm that provides strategic planning and market/consumer intelligence, has announced that it will soon release several 2026 editions of the Habo IP Index.

Over the past decade, leveraging established intellectual properties (IPs) to develop entertainment experiences or explore new markets has become increasingly common. Understanding an IP's value, audience expectations, and diversification possibilities is essential for aligning with audience needs and achieving business goals.

The Habo IP Index assesses the commercial value of intellectual property to support strategic decision-making in the entertainment and sports sectors.

By integrating market intelligence, consumer insights, and performance benchmarks, it provides a structured approach to gauge demand potential and expectations, optimise creative concepts and business models, and reduce financial risks.

The initial public version of the Index, published in 2022, featured the top 70 IPs in the US market. Since then, Habo has evaluated over a thousand IPs in major markets globally, including popular, niche, and emerging IPs in entertainment and sports.

The 2026 edition

While the methodology remains unchanged, the company has revised its approach. The 2026 editions will continue to feature the top ten IPs from 2022, along with an extra 30 highest-reaching IPs since 2000.

Additionally, Habo will now include ten IPs launched in the last five years, whether these are original properties like Squid Game or those achieving success through new formats, such as Barbie.

Building on this, Habo will examine the evolution of IPs since 2022.

Has an IP’s value decreased following the launch of a new experience or brand extension? Do emerging IPs challenge established ones? Or has news coverage of an IP or its creators influenced its appeal? Our analysis will identify the external factors that have shaped IPs’ lifecycles and affected their value.

In addition to the initial report on the US, Habo is expanding its research to include the United Kingdom and France, offering localised insights into leading IPs. Subsequently, the company plans to publish reports focusing on particular IP segments, such as sports, celebrities, and trending themes.

The US edition of the 2026 Habo IP Index will be published this spring.

Last year, Habo shared findings from a study that highlighted the appeal of Las Vegas and Orlando to domestic visitors.
