IAAPA, the global association for the attractions industry, has announced that IAAPA Expo Middle East 2026 will not take place after a meeting with the IAAPA Board of Directors.
IAAPA has been closely monitoring the evolving situation in the Middle East, with the best interests of IAAPA members, exhibitors, attendees, partners, and colleagues in mind. The IAAPA Board of Directors convened on Tuesday and decided not to proceed with the IAAPA Expo Middle East as originally planned.
This decision was made after in-depth discussions with major stakeholders, including the IAAPA EMEA Regional Advisory Board, the IAAPA EMEA Manufacturers & Suppliers Committee, the MENALAC Board of Directors, and feedback from exhibitors, speakers, and local members.
"Not an easy decision"
“This was not an easy decision,” says Jakob Wahl, president and CEO of IAAPA. “We recognize the time, investment, and commitment of our members and partners dedicated to what would have been the inaugural IAAPA Expo Middle East.
"We are grateful for their support and understanding as we prioritize the safety and best interests of our global community.”
IAAPA will stay in direct contact with exhibitors, sponsors, speakers, and registered attendees about the next steps. The association reiterates its support for the attractions industry throughout the region and says it is looking forward to bringing the community together at IAAPA Expo Middle East next year, scheduled for 12 - 15 April 2027.
The inaugural IAAPA Expo Middle East was set to take place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) in Abu Dhabi, UAE, from 30 March to 2 April 2026.
The creation of a new regional expo was in response to demands from operators, exhibitors, and other members to provide the area with a high-quality event that offers a comprehensive educational programme, networking opportunities, and behind-the-scenes experiences.
Last week, the Themed Entertainment Association also announced the cancellation of TEA SATE EME, which was set to take place from 25 - 28 March at Dubai Parks & Resorts in the UAE.
