Darcy Troy-Pollack is the vice president of immersive experiences and content partnerships at MGM Resorts International, a position she has held since October 2021. Prior to this, she worked as the senior creative director of new experience development & partnerships at Walt Disney Imagineering.
Troy-Pollack began her career in themed entertainment when LBE was still in its infancy. She was instrumental in the early development of Sony’s Metreon, having been hired as the second person into what was then known as Sony Retail Entertainment. As such, she had a front-row seat as the world of LBEs moved from museum exhibits and arcades to IP-driven experiences, such as the Where the Wild Things are play experience, and next-generation gameplay, such as the Moebius arcade. After that, she worked as a consultant, co-founded two retail entertainment concepts, Ridemakerz and Scribble Press, and worked at a “games for good” mobile gaming start-up, where she attracted key partners like National Geographic and Smithsonian.
Having worked with Bob Weis in her Sony days, he brought her along for the journey when he became president of Imagineering. At Disney she helped Weis launch a new experiences group within WDI, to explore how Disney could look in physical space outside the berm.
One nominator said: “In the last few decades there are few people I have met that I hold in as high an esteem as I do Darcy. She is both incredibly creative and highly strategic. She has the ability to think outside the box on all kinds of new initiatives, and on top of that, she has an uncanny ability to spot talent, network, and connect organisations, making them more vibrant, and more successful.
“She is always way ahead of the trends and never stops. She’s incredibly valuable and a collaborative member of any team.”
