Ryan Hart Immersive Designer Sinking Ship Creations

Ryan Hart is an immersive designer at Sinking Ship Creations, which was created in January 2018 to produce and promote live-action role play (LARP)in the New York City theatre community. He has been at the forefront of creating new and exciting live-action roleplaying games and immersive events in the New York area for many years. His events like The Mortality Machine, Project Ascension, and Scapegoat have been featured in media outlets like the New York Times, Time Out New York and No Proscenium. He’s also staffed and worked as a marketing coordinator for other large immersive events like the Dystopia Rising Larp network.

He became interested in storytelling as a cadet at the United States Air Force Academy, where he participated in the Bluebard’s Theatre Troupe. His live-action work has carried him from California to New York and he has produced over twenty-six shows for audiences of hundreds, and at one point, thousands, of people across four states.

Sinking Ship Creations is dedicated to empowering storytellers by elevating live-action role play as an art form. According to the vision statement on the company’s website:

“Everyone who larps is a storyteller – we want you to tell your story. Larp lets you live in the narratives you create, experiencing perspectives that would otherwise be impossible to encounter, and building empathy for fellow human beings. As producers, partners, and teachers, we want to establish larp as a safe, accessible, and affordable medium for everyone to express themselves. We value every tale you have to tell, and want to make it possible for you to share your stories with people of your choosing.”
