New show includes immersive design, an otherworldly storyline, and a four-course menu

Gingerline, billed as the original immersive dining concept, is set to return to London next year with an updated production.

The new experience – titled ‘The Grand Expedition: The Incredible Edible Journey’ – merges immersive design and an otherworldly storyline with a four-course menu and innovative cocktails. It is an updated iteration of Gingerline’s award-winning show, The Grand Expedition.

Visitors will be taken on a culinary journey around the world in a fleet of hot air balloons during the 100-minute dining experience, which includes animated projections, circus acts, dances and puppetry.

Each destination visited during the show will include a dance inspired by the local culture, as well as dishes designed by executive chef Jenny McNeill.

Throughout the evening, guests will be invited to leave their tables to enjoy immersive games that bring to life the various featured cultures.

“We are beyond excited to be returning to London next year for our homecoming production,” said Gingerline creative producer and co-founder Suz Mountfort.

She added: “Having been away for four years, it will be incredible to show everyone what we’ve been working on and how we have reimagined our beloved production, The Grand Expedition, for audiences both new and longstanding to enjoy.”

Gingerline was first conceived as an experimental pop-up experience. To date, the group has designed and created more than 20 dining productions. Post-pandemic, Gingerline took its concept to Shanghai and Shenzhen in China, and Seoul in South Korea.

In more news, creative studio SUPERBIEN has partnered with Ephemera Group to create a new immersive restaurant in Paris named Jungle Palace.

During dinner, guests are surrounded by animals and immersed in a jungle-style setting from dawn to dusk. As well as meeting a life-sized elephant, guests find themselves in a tropical storm.

Gingerline’s first show in London since 2019 will debut in February in an undisclosed location.
