New event promises two free jellybeans and maybe Timothée Chalamet

Glasgow’s infamous Willy Wonka-themed immersive experience is being recreated in Los Angeles later this month.

The event, simply called ‘Willy’s Chocolate Experience LA’, is scheduled to take place “in a nondescript warehouse” in the heart of downtown LA on 28 April, according to the Eventbrite ticketing website.

It comes after the “groundbreaking success” of the original experience in Glasgow, Scotland, organised by House of Illuminati and businessman Billy Coull.

The star of the LA experience will be Kirsty Paterson, who became a viral sensation after images emerged of her as a sad Oompa Loompa. She will take part in “an exclusive absurdist Q&A and fan photo opportunity”.

The event listing promises “two complimentary jelly beans to kickstart the sweetness”, as well as local music and comedy performances, and vendors offering sweet treats.

“Adding to the allure, rumors abound that renowned comedians are vying for the chance to moderate the Q&A session, promising an evening filled with laughter and unexpected twists,” the listing reveals. “Additionally, Hollywood heartthrob Timothée Chalamet has perhaps maybe expressed interest in attending, further heightening the excitement surrounding this extraordinary event.”

Tickets are priced at $44. They are non-refundable “because we’re actually going to deliver”, the listing adds.

The Glasgow version of the event made headlines in February after police were called following complaints from visitors.

‘Willy’s Chocolate Experience’ was cancelled by the organisers mid-way through, and House of Illuminati said full refunds would be given to “each and every person that purchased tickets”.

The new event is by House of Illuminati LA, but Paterson told the Daily Record: “The House of Illuminati LA name is a joke. It’s not Billy Coull. I don’t do any work with him and steer clear of that for a reason.”
