Joseph Conover is a leader and innovator in the field of immersive experiences, serving as director of immersive entertainment and live events for the Americas at Christie Digital, a global visual technology company.
At Christie Digital, he offers strategic support to live venue partners, technical collaborators, and creators throughout the Americas. He manages technical consultations and provides comprehensive solutions such as projection, LED displays, media servers, pre- and post-installation services, blending and mapping, long-term support, and on-site assistance. His team collaborates closely with rental, staging, and event partners to ensure smooth and top-tier communal experiences.
Before joining Christie, Conover spent eight years at Panasonic North America, honing his skills in immersive technology and live event production. In addition to his corporate role, he also works as a freelance consultant in the immersive arts and entertainment sector, leveraging his creativity, technical expertise, and problem-solving skills on projects of various sizes.
Speaking to blooloop about Christie's work with The Illuminarium in Toronto, he said:
“It is an immersive space and you're trying to create an illusion. So, you don't want to see that technology. You don't want to pull somebody out of that space with a noise or with something that interrupts the flow...
I love to watch people go through the space. I want to see everyone put their nose against the screen and wonder how these images were made."
