Justin Schwartz
Senior Director, Engineering and Safety
Universal Creative
Justin Schwartz joined Universal Creative over 20 years ago as an associate engineer, in his own words, “driven by a passion for blending creativity and technical innovation”.
His career started with projects such as Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, before he advanced into leadership roles overseeing engineering and safety for experiences including Hogwarts Express and the Volcano Bay water park.
Additionally, Schwartz developed Universal’s original wand technology, which helped to set a new standard for guest interactivity in theme parks. He was also part of the founding team for Epic Universe.
“Justin Schwartz has been a key innovator and technical leader in the attractions industry for over 20 years, contributing to some of Universal Creative's most iconic projects. His work has significantly advanced immersive storytelling and guest experiences through the development of cutting-edge technology combined with engineering expertise,” says one nomination for Schwartz.
Schwartz said: “Over the years, I’ve met guests so moved by Universal Creative’s work that they pursued careers in our industry. Hearing my own kids express that same awe and excitement has brought it full circle. With Epic Universe, I hope we continue to spark that passion in future creators, engineers, and dreamers."
Another nomination says: “For over two decades, Justin has been one of the most brilliant and influential minds shaping the global theme park industry – not only through breakthrough innovation and landmark attractions, but through his steadfast leadership, collaborative integrity, and passion for the craft.”
A third says: “Justin is more than a project leader – he’s a visionary who uplifts those around him and drives excellence through empathy, communication, and purpose.”
