Chubu Centrair International Airport in Japan is to open an "airport theme park" on October 12th. Flight of Dreams will include high tech immersive activities and F&B centred around the first Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

The attraction is in two parts: Flight Park and theSeattle Terrace.

Airport theme park

Flight Park is a paid admission area with nine activities.

Technology has been used to create a number of the airport themed activities:

  • Fly with 787 Dreamliner is a projection mapping show around and on the aircraft.
  • Paper Plane Music Fieldis an interactive illuminated space that changes colour and creates sound when visitors fly paper aeroplanes through it.
  • Sketch Airplaneis a 3D dome space onto which guest can design and scan an aeroplane and make it fly using a special tablet.
  • 787 Dreamliner Explorer is a mobile app that challenges visitors to search for pieces of the aircraft around the Boeing 787.

In addition there are opportunities to look inside the plane's cockpit, try out a flight simulator and learn about the Everett Factory, theworld biggest aircraft assembly factory.

There is also the chance to play at working in-cabin, with opportunities for pictures and video.

STEM, branded merchandise and themed F&B

In additionthe Museum of Flight Learning Center is part of theSeattle Museum ofFlight, the world’s biggest aerospace museum, and offers a STEM educationalprogram.

A Boeing store sits at the exit of the Flight Deck. This is the first Boeing store outside the US. For sale are branded merchandise as well as goods made from recycled aeroplane parts.

Shops and restaurants can be found at the free-to-enter Seattle Terrace area.
