Michel Amann

Founder & Chief Creative Officer

CRYSTAL

Michel Amann founded CRYSTAL in 1996. Over the past two decades, his passion and drive for innovation have pushed him to constantly push boundaries. His work includes designing and creating groundbreaking aquatic, mechanical, scenic, and multimedia effects that captivate audiences worldwide.

As chief creative officer, he uses his engineering background to craft enchanting experiences. He hides the technical complexities so the beauty and sensory appeal of his creations stand out.

Amann's entrepreneurial spirit has led him to work with major production companies, including Cirque du Soleil, Dragone, and ECA2, among others, creating globally recognised partnerships.

Since CRYSTAL's inception, he has collaborated with theme park operators in France and worldwide, including Disney in Paris and Shanghai, Futuroscope, Puy du Fou, Parc Astérix, Land of Legends, Terra Botanica, and Pairi Daiza.

His work has led to innovative effects, including water tornadoes, air shoots, water curtains, a multi-flame projector, underwater air shoots, rain effects, a fake volcano eruption with mist and LEDs, and water screens. These permanent installations demonstrate Michel's focus on durability and quality in themed entertainment.

Looking ahead, Amann pushes innovation with prototypes like GPS-controlled Aqua Drones. His skills extend beyond theme parks, drawing inspiration from industries such as fashion shows, touring productions, World Expos, casinos, cruise lines, and brand events.

Recently, his team played a key role in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games' Opening and Closing Ceremonies, staging water curtains under the Pont d'Austerlitz, installing 400 meters of floating fountains for the delegations' entrance, creating 4 golden water mirrors on the Ile de la Cité for a dance sequence, designing the cauldron's mirror pools in the Tuileries Gardens, and delivering the low fog carpet at Stade de France.
