Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee is introducing new experiences to honour Dolly Parton following the country music legend's death last week.

Parton, who served as Dollywood's dreamer-in-chief, died in Nashville on 25 August. To celebrate her life and legacy, Dollywood plans to create several new experiences and installations.

"Many of us had extensive conversations with Dolly through the years about how she would want us to carry her vision forward," said Eugene Naughton, president of Dollywood Parks & Resorts.

"Dollywood will always be a place where families find fun, kindness and joy – a place where they can make memories that last a lifetime, just like she would have wanted," he added.

"We will carry her dreams forward by continuing to grow, welcoming even more guests, and sharing the warmth and hospitality of which she was so proud."

Among Dollywood's new additions are a mountainside waterfall and new stained-glass windows for the Robert F. Thomas Chapel to reflect Parton's faith and connection to the Smoky Mountains.

Also, a new character called the Dream Maker will be introduced to Dollywood's Wildwood Grove in 2027, inspired by Parton's Imagination Library, which has gifted more than 330 million books to children around the world.

Special kiosks also will be located around Wildwood Grove, giving guests a place to share their own thoughts about how Parton inspired them.

Finally, Dollywood is adding a new portal into the Dolly Parton Experience, which celebrates Parton's life and work.

Per a press release, the new additions "reflect the spirit of Dolly's vision for Dollywood – a place where kindness is celebrated and guests can make lifelong memories".

"As Dollywood continues to grow, Dolly’s influence will remain woven into the experiences guests share, the dreams that are inspired and the lives that are touched," Dollywood said.

"Her extraordinary vision will continue to shape the park for generations to come."
