Tokyo Disneyland has announced a name for its new Space Mountain roller coaster, as well as its new Wreck-It Ralph-themed attraction.
The new rides are part of a 100 billion yen ($630 million) transformation of the park's Tomorrowland area, which will also include new shops and restaurants.
The updated Space Mountain coaster will be named Space Mountain Earthrise, while the Wreck-It Ralph attraction will be called Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue.
Space Mountain Earthrise will introduce new technology to Tokyo Disney Resort, Oriental Land Company said in a statement.
It will return with various enhancements, including a new story, a newly developed ride system, and rich and dynamic show elements to provide an even more thrilling journey through outer space.
Additionally, the ride vehicles will be equipped with onboard audio, a first for Tokyo Disney Resort's coasters.
The new experience will be the first of its kind in a Disney theme park, while retaining the previous version's concept as an indoor coaster.
The coaster's new name "refers to the sight of Earth from space as it rises from beyond the moon’s surface, just as the sun rises from the horizon", said Oriental Land Company.
"The name captures the beauty and preciousness of Earth as an unparalleled existence within the universe and is a concept unique to Japan among Space Mountain attractions at Disney theme parks worldwide," it added.
New attractions open in 2027
As for Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue, this will immerse guests in a vibrant game world where they help Ralph and Vanellope to defeat King Candy.
Lastly, the area surrounding both attractions will become Tomorrowland Plaza, which "connects the Tomorrowland of the past and future", said Oriental Land Company.
"With Tomorrowland Plaza at its center, the new vision for Tomorrowland will continue to evolve," it added.
Space Mountain Earthrise and Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue are due to open in 2027.
