Peter Weishar

Director of Themed Experience

Peter Weishar is a leading pioneer in establishing the academic discipline of themed entertainment and production. For more than twenty years, he has developed curricula, themed entertainment and experience degree programmes, and promoted the creation of a new academic field that continues to significantly influence the themed park and attractions industry.

He has designed and led degree programmes as dean of Entertainment Arts at SCAD and dean of Fine Arts at Florida State University. He is now the director of themed experience at the University of Central Florida.

These programs have graduated hundreds of students who have successful careers in the themed entertainment industry. As a founder of the Themed Experience and Attractions Academic Society, Weishar has helped grow the field to over 20 institutions. He also co-hosts the annual Themed Experience and Attractions Academic Symposium, the largest event in the discipline.

He has led collaborations with Walt Disney Imagineering, Universal Creative, Meow Wolf, Falcon’s Beyond, and other major firms that have contributed to shaping curricula to teach students industry best practices and specific skill sets. His advisory boards have included multiple IAAPA and TEA Lifetime Achievement Award recipients.

Weishar also currently serves as the founder and director of the UCF Themed Experience Graduate programs, overseeing nearly 90 graduate students.

Weishar has completed two full terms on the Eastern Board of the Themed Entertainment Association. He has also hosted two TEA/SATE Conferences and is the only academic currently serving on the TEA International Board of Directors. Additionally, he has been the Faculty Advisor to TEA@UCF, one of the largest and most active TEA student organisations.
