Pixar Adventurous Journey (PAJ) is inspired by seven heartwarming stories from beloved Pixar Animation Studios’ films, including Inside Out, Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo, Turning Red, Coco, Up and Soul.
Blending iconic coming-of-age tales into one unforgettable journey, Pixar Adventurous Journey guides guests through symbolic stages of personal growth—from childhood innocence to the confusion of adolescence, adult endeavors, and contemplation of life’s deeper meanings. As the exhibition unfolds sequentially, heartwarming stories emerge one after another, connecting emotional insights across stages of growth and leaving guests with a lasting impression of the warmth, courage, inspiration, and power that Pixar stories have provided.
1. Finding Nemo Interactive Screen (Marine Fish Coloring Game)
The interactive software is developed with the Unity game engine to create dynamic ocean visual effects. Colors drawn on the iPad are captured and converted into textures, which are then mapped onto 3D fish models. The fish skeleton is rigged with motion joints to achieve natural swaying effects. AI computing power is used to set motion trajectories, ensuring the fish avoid collisions and creating smooth swimming visuals. The final video stream is output to the main screen via a video capture card, where keying technology maps the fish onto the large display. This creates a seamless three-in-one interactive experience, where fish drawn on the iPad instantly appear in the digital ocean.
2. Turning Red – Mei Mei Interactive Screen
Equipped with a built-in 3D facial recognition sensor, the system captures distance and analyzes facial angles. AI algorithms determine trigger conditions, activating interactive content. The screen is fitted with a mirror film, creating a “magic mirror” effect for guests. Randomized dynamic Mei Mei animations are played with synchronized visuals and sound effects. The interaction logic is well-structured, delivering highly engaging and entertaining experiences.
3. Inside Out – Interactive Console
Input signals from physical switches are converted into digital signals and transmitted via the 485 protocol to the PC host system. The software then triggers output commands to control lighting effects, synchronized with sound effects. The combination of audio and lighting rhythm enhances immersion, faithfully recreating cinematic effects.
4. Coco Bridge LED Interactive Screen
An intelligent sensing display equipped with a built-in interactive sensing chip. The interactive software, developed with the Unity engine, delivers visually striking content and interaction logic. Using the TUIO multi-touch protocol plugin, the system receives touch data directly from the screen, enabling real-time “point-and-shoot” interactive effects.
5. Up Swing House Attraction
Powered by Siemens programmable logic controllers, the system employs high-precision servo drives for seamless synchronization with animations. Multiple control modes allow switching freely between local and remote operations, ensuring flexible system control. Safety features include dual emergency stop systems (control cabinet and on-site), along with additional software and hardware limit protections, ensuring safe operation from multiple aspects.
